Chiropractic Adjustments

Chiropractors focus many of their interventions on the bones of the spine. If a patient’s spine is out of alignment, a chiropractor will use manual pressure and strategic positioning to return the bones to their normal position. The best way to reinforce this repositioning of the spine is by developing a regimen of exercise that will promote strong and healthy soft tissues.  The type of exercises performed depends on where the pain is located.

Exercises to Reinforce Treatment

Clients with back and neck pain will be instructed to stretch the neck and back muscles gently. These exercises will follow the direction of the usual path these muscles would take. Many back exercises begin with a person lying on his back and then bringing his knees up to his chin.  Another back exercise starts with lying on the back as the participant slowly rotates his hips.

Exercises for Joint Pain

Similar to the other exercises performed under the direction of a chiropractor, exercises for joint pain focus on strengthening the muscles that support joint function. Weak muscles do nothing to hold joints in place, and excessive muscle weakness can lead to pain as bones and other tissues pull and scrape against each other. Strong supporting muscles are essential for preventing many pains within the body, including joint pain. Our chiropractor will identify any areas of weakness you have and provide you with a regimen of exercises to address those weaknesses.
